Genie & Sam’s Eclectic Fall Wedding at a Private Estate in College Station was an intimate, joy-filled celebration that blended meaningful traditions, artistic details, and the warmth of home. Set at Genie’s childhood home, this heartfelt day was full of rich fall colors, sentimental moments, and a deep sense of connection—not only between the couple, but with every guest present. As a photographer, it was a dream to document a day so personal, creative, and full of love.
A Private Estate Wedding Full of Sentimental Touches
Their venue choice was deeply personal. Genie’s father works for Texas A&M University, and College Station has always been a second home to her. The couple chose to get married on her family’s private estate—Genie’s childhood home. Her father, who still travels between New Zealand and Texas, spent months preparing the property for this very day. And wow, was it worth it!! From the sprawling fields and wooded corners to the peaceful lake at sunset—it was the kind of setting photographers dream of!
Jewel-Toned Fall Aesthetic Meets Laid-Back Elegance
With a jewel-toned fall color palette of rich oranges, reds, yellows, and greens, everything felt cozy and vibrant. The weather was sunny with a cool breeze—the perfect backdrop for their outdoor tented ceremony and relaxed reception. One unique and touching detail was their handfasting ceremony, where they tied a rope around their wrists to symbolize their unity.
An Unforgettable First Look (After a Tooth Mishap!)
Sam started the day with a chipped tooth—an accidental souvenir from a pre-wedding basketball game! After an emergency dental visit, he arrived just in time for their first look. Despite the stress, the moment they saw each other, everything calmed. The way he lit up when Genie walked down the aisle was something I’ll never forget.
A Reception That Felt Like Home
This wasn’t your typical wedding reception. Guests gathered around fire pits, made s’mores, danced under the stars, and shared stories! Sam’s uncle gave a heartfelt speech in honor of Sam’s late father, giving his presence a beautiful place in the day. Instead of a grand exit, the night ended with everyone simply staying late, singing karaoke (Genie’s rendition of “Goodbye Earl” with her mom and aunt was iconic!), and soaking in all the joy.
Genie and Sam welcomed me in like I was part of their world—and it was an honor to document such an intimate and meaningful celebration. Their wedding day was full of laughter, love, and the kind of memories that make you want to linger a little longer.
Congratulations to Genie & Sam!! Wishing you both an amazing life together as you begin this incredible new chapter!
