Darby contacted me a few months before her wedding and let me know that, at her mother’s insistence, she wanted to add on a bridal session. Her mother loved her own bridal session and wanted to ensure that Darby also had some beautiful heirlooms to look back on.
While day-of bridals are a must in my book, there’s something really special about getting the full look together about a month before your wedding day. It’s a day where we have plenty of time together, so there’s no rush or stress worrying about getting on to the next thing or concerns about missing out on visiting with friends and family. It also helps to ease some other tensions— “will the dress fit just right, are all the buttons attached correctly, what will the makeup look like, wait— how do I keep my veil from flying away!?”
We scheduled Darby’s session during golden hour, beginning about two hours before sunset. There was some really great light to play around with, including some fun shadows. We started with a few portraits indoors with a backdrop, and eventually moved outside when the light got nice and soft.
